Disparity neurons Flashcards
Selective disparity neurons
Neurons that repsond to selective disparity. Only active when:
- a line is presented simultaneously to both eyes
- in the correct orientation, direction of motion
- and in correct binocular disparity
Location of disparity selective neurons
V1, V2, V3 and V3A of monkey visual cortex.
Detected quite early/. Types;
- Tuned near
- Tuned far
- Tuned zero
- Tuned inhibitory
Tests to measure neuron sensitivity
Correlated and anticorrelated dot stereograms.
Left and right see stereogram with disparity:
- Depth is percieved (dome)
- Dots are correlated (dots black/white in both eyes)
Left and right see stereogram without disparity:
- No depth perceived
- Dots are anticorrelated (matching dots have opposite colors.
Results:
- V1 neurons showed inverse tuning for anti-crrelated dots
Convex depth
Near sdiparity. Some neurons in the IT are tuned to this but not concave depth
Concave depth
Idk i don’t get this
