Q

How does the involuntary nature of reflexes increase your chance of survival?

A
  • being involuntary
    • decision-making regfions of the brain are not involved
    • therefore the brain is able to deal with more complex responses
    • prevents brain from being overloaded in situations which the response is always the same

Q

How are reflexes really fast? How does this increase our chances of survival?

A
  • *
  • extremely fast
    • reflex arc is very short

Q

What are the other ways reflexes incease are chances of survival?

A
  • don’t have to be learnt
    • present at birth
    • therefore provide immediate protection
  • have became everyday action
    • such as those that keep us upright
