Internal causes include medications, impaired circulation, impaired oxygen transport, altered metabolic state, infection, and emaciation.
Indications of impaired skin integrity include damaged or destroyed tissues; color changes such as pallor, flushing, or discoloration; altered sensations such as numbness, tingling, burning, tenderness, or pain; and edema.
