Prosthodontic transfer lines Flashcards
What are the main transfer lines
- centreline
- mid canine line
- residual alveolar ridge contour
- centre of the lower alveolar ridge line
- high smile line
- rim profile
What does the centre line indicate
where the central incisors will sit
What does the mid canine line indicate
indicates where centre of canine should set
can help in picking mould
What does the residual alveolar ridge contour line indicate?
the upwards slope of the alveolar ridge. Teeth should not be set on an incline/slope
What other information is required if casts don’t hand articulate
OVD
How do we provide the lab with the OVD
- measure px resting face height and trim wax blocks until you get FWS of 2-4mm
- use bite reg paste and get px to bite together to their prescribed OVD
What other lines are useful on a jaw registration for the lab
high smile line
What can the high smile line aid with
gingival contouring and for crown heights when selecting teeth for the denture can get an idea of how much tooth will show when smiling
What is the rim profile for
To ensure adequate lip support
helps in knowing where to set the teeth
What does the central occlusal plane indicate?
the central occlusal plane indicates where the incisal level of the tooth should be
