What is clinical waste
any waste which consists wholly or partly of human or animal tissue, blood or other body fluids, excretions, drugs or other pharmaceutical products, swabs or dressings, syringes, needles or other sharp instruments
What is amalgam waste
waste consisting of amalgam in any form and includes all other materials contaminated with amalgam
What do amalgam waste containers contain
mercury supressant to prevent mercury vapors.
What should all dental practices have in their sinks + chair water supply drainage thingy
Amalgam separator should also be installed to capture amalgam in waste water
What is the orange waste stream for
onsists of items which are contaminated or likely to be contaminated with blood and/or body fluids including saliva

Extracted teeth + amalgam in them
What stream do chemicals go in
red waste aka special waste
e.g x ray developer
You dismantle a half used LA syringe
What bins does everything go in?
ultra safety plus twist (white) are single use so can go in normal clinical waste
needle will go in the yellow sharps box with the orange lid
cartridge isnt empty so will go in the yellow sharps box with the blue lid
