Nursing Interventions
Obtain specimen of exudate for culture and sensitivity
Administer antibiotics and other drugs as prescribed
Instruct client to administer eardrops
Monitor temperature, drainage, pain and hearing acuity and delay air travel when infection is present
Face client, minimize distractions, enunciate clearly, provide written communication if hearing is diminished
Instruct client to report headache or stiff neck immediately, since this may indicate complications of Meningitis
