Who Can Access Medications w/o Pharmacy Staff?
Properly trained person shall be charged with the responsibility of administering nonparental medications:
* Knowledge of drugs purpose, dangers, and contraindications
* This person shall be a licensed nurse or physician or shall have successfully completed a department-approved medication aide challenge examination administered by a community college.
LTC Requirements on IV Labeling for Dispensing Unit?
Legends Solutions: Irrigation & Infusion
* Store in Locked Rx Area

LTC Unit Dose Requirements for Dispensing Unit?
Floor Stock: Name, Strength, Exp.
Patient Use: Name, Room/Bed #, Prescriber, Drug Name, Strength, Directions, Pharmacy Name/Address
LTC Multi-Dose/Repackaging Requirements?
Containers may be only be reused for the same patient; max 1 month supply:
* Med Pak Unique ID #
* Beyond Use Date: Max 60 Days from Preparation or Drug Expiration Date (whichever is first)
* If Med Pak allows for removal/separation of containers, each container must be labeled
* If Med Pak is returned to the pharmacy, it can only be reused for the same patient.
