Steps of counselling
A
- who is the patient
- have you seen an MD
- Assess symptoms (get to tell you about it - probe)
- Contemplate tentative course of action in head
- Assess patient health status (questioning may differ with age)
- State your recommendation. Relieve concern, reassure in what they’re doing, non-drug could be used in wait and see situation
- Provide info on proper use (focus on getting the right drug over how to use it - is in package)
