Common in younger kids, New addition of wheezing on top of runny nose, cough, slight fever, and rapid/shallow breathing

-Have a bark like cough that is very dry, mainly from viral infection, swollen trachea tissue
-clears up in 5-7 days on own, sounds worse than it is. Relief with cool air or warm fluids

A

Bacterial infection
is a cough for 2-3 weeks then a 100 day cough. Runny nose tired, low fever. Coughing interrupted by a gasp for air to fill lungs
Anitbiotics help reduce severity and length of recovery. unlikely to help if cough persists more than 3 weeks
