Dermis: follicles, glands, itch sensation, stingin, pain
Hypo: subQ tissue, connective and adipose tissue
How can nails be affected
Hangnail, Fungal (otc hard to help, can’t penetrate), Psoriasis (pits in nail)
Skin factors affecting absorption
hydration, pH, thickness application, skin temp, damaged skin. Overcoming stratum corneum (damaged skin is losing fluid)
Different formulation
Lotion: acute rough area
Ointment: more chronic area likely to scale and be dry
Fingertip unit
2 are about 1 g of steroid. one is for area twice sixe of flat of hand
Vesicle
somewhat watery
blistering
Larger than vesicle
Bullae
exaggerated blister, liquid under skin
Erythema
Redness, usually reaction from shaving or allergy. no blistering
Wheal
Red or skin colour wealts
Papule, pustule, nodule, cyst
Acne sores, inflamation process
left to right is worse, get larger
Abcess
like filiculitis, ingrown hair, wait until head visible
-initially hard to tell ingrown hair (3-4 days), squeezing is more harm
crusting
Blistering or absess early, 3-4 days after acute reaction
