Fifth disease
Parvovirus (start with cold)
-appears wwith reddened cheek, can be on body
-caused by virus, rash appears after cold (lasts 2 weeks to month)
-fever not high
-not maculopapular
Roseola/sixth disease
Viral, starts with higher fever and cold, low red cheek
-about 2 days after get patchy rash
-younger than fifths
*maculopapular
Hand foot and mouth
Viral, start with cold
-appears as 2 day fever, 2 day mouth sore, 2 day rash
-is more atypical and harder to pick up on. more on hands and feet
-less than 5 years
-not much treatment, no calomine
Molluscum
viral (like warts), from skin to skin contact
-appear 10-20 lesion avg
-treat by freeze or cutting, otherwise 16-18 months to go away
-scratching causes sliding and spreading
-bump has small indentations
-all ages
Erythema toxicum
Red spoltches with white pimple like bump
-up to half babies in first few days life, done in 1-2 weeks

Milia
often along nose, skin not adapted
-use damp facecloth to take off surface molecule and goes awau
-mini white bumps
Impetigo
bacterial infection kids 2-5
-see MD for better medication
-strep or staph , on face with regional lympadenopath
-2-3 weeks
-vesicels may become pustules that rupture, crusting of skin, not blistering
-mouth and nose common
Instead of impetigo
eczema: itchier, less crust
contact dermatitis: possibly obvious cause, itchier
herpes simplec: painful and tinngling, clear exudate
Cold sore: on lip (anitviral given early)
Polysporn usage
gram pos – for staphs and strep
polymyxin: gram negative, broad control
bacitracin and gramicidin are gram pos
-two gram pos doesnt make better
-lidocaine = numbing
how does topical antibitoic change for folliculitis
increase from 5-7 days to 7-10
