What’s contained in the Medullary Cavity and what is it used for?
Yellow bone marrow is contained in the Medullary Cavity and it stores fat.
What is the periosteum?
It is a tough fibrous layer that surrounds each bone.
Where’s cartilage located and what does it do?
Cartilage covers the tips of bones in joints and acts in reducing friction and acting as a shock absorber.
What is compact bone comprised of?
It consists of osteocytes embedded in a matrix of calcium salts and a protein called collagen.
Where is compact bone mainly found?
It is mainly found at the outer edge of a bone.
What is spongy bone comprised of?
It consists of a network of thin, bony columns and plates, along with marrow (red or yellow).
What do red cells make?
Blood cells
