Vaughn Williams classifications 1-4
- sodium channel blocker
- BB
- K-channel blocker
- CCB
4 beta blockers used for arrhythmias
propanolol
sotalol
acebutol
esmolol
Potassium channel blockers
amiodarone dronedarone sotalol dofetilide ibutilide
Quinidine indications
NA blocker
svt, a-flutter/fib
doubles Dig levels
Mexiletine (PO lidocaine) use
pvc’s, svt
accelerate repolarization
Flecainide & Propafenone
can excacerbate and create arrhtymias
Potassium channel blocker and use
amiodarone
-for life threatening ventricular dysrhtythmias only, recurrent v fib, unstable vtach
(need xray and thyroid checked)
Calcium channel blocker uses
verapamil and diltiazem
afib/flutter, terminate svt d/t reentrant circuit
Lanoxin (digoxin) use
primary indication is HF but also for Supraventricular dysrhythmias NOT ventricular arrhythmias
Lidocaine!, phenytoin!, procainamide
alternative for cardioversion for ventricular dysrhythmias
