  • after this, H went on to conquer Normandy + tighten his grip on France
  • after his death, his son took over, French got back most of their lost land
  • French were inspired by Joan of Arc’s leadership to take back their country

  • English identity developed - country began to see itself as ‘apart’ from Europe and as having a common language and homeland
