Lecture 6 - Brainstem & Spinal Cord III Flashcards
Rexed’s Laminae - V & VI function?
dorsal input
Central Pathway of Discriminative Sensation?
Peripheral nerve innervates dorsal root ganglion, becomes dorsal funiculus which innervates either cuneate (upper limb) or gracile (lower limb) nuclei, decussation as medulla as internal arcuate fibres, rise up as medial lemniscus through tegmentum sections of brainstem, relay through VP (M&L) of thalamus, throuhg medial aspect of internal capsule to primary sensory cortex.
Spinothalamic pathway?
Free nerve endings interact with doral root ganglion, become tract of Lissauer, decussation at anterior white commisure (spinal cord), joins medial leminiscus at medulla, travel up tegmentum of all brainstem, relay through VP of thalamus, onto primary sensory cortex
Internal capsule cells actions?
lateral efferent and medial afferent
