Q

fxn thymus

A

t cell maturation. only 2% of t cells successfully pass. after age 30, disappears

Q

which tonsils get removed first

17
Q

what are tonsils

A

encapsulated lymphoid tissue. site of proliferation B Lymphocytees

18
Q
A
  1. pharyngeal
    2.palatine
    3.lingual

tonsils

19
Q

where does thoracic duct drain

A

jxn btw subclavian and internal jugular vein

20
Q

where is thoracic duct located

21
Q

what is the equivalent to thoracic duct but on the right side

A

right lymphatic duct

22
Q

what region of body does thoracic duct drain

A

entire body EXCEPT right half of head/neck & right upper limb & right half of thorax

those are drained by right lymphatic duct

23
Q

where does right lymphatic duct empty into

A

jxn right subclavian and right internal jugular veins.

24
Q

lower limb/pelvis drainage

A

1.inguinal LN (also receives anterior abdo wall)
2.pelvic LN
3.lumbar trunks
4. cisterna chyli

25
abdo lymph drainage
alimentary canal, liver, pancreas, spleen drain into pre-aortic LN and then to cisterna chyli via intestinal trunks lymph of posterior abdo wall, kidneys, gonads, adreansl drain into para-aortia LN, then cisterna chyli thru lumbar trunks
26
thorax lymph drainage
parasternal, diaphragmatic, intercostal, mediastinal LN. empties into thoracic duct on left, and right lymphatic duct on right side via bronchomediastinal trunk
27
head/neck lymph drainage
superficial and deep LN which eventually drain into left thoracic duct and right lymphatic duct via jugular trunks
28
upper limb lymphatic drainage
acillary LN subclavian trunk right lmphatic duct and thoracic duct
