What words to adverbs modify?
verb, adjective, or another adverb
What are the three questions that you can ask to determine what an adverb is in a sentence?
- When?
- Where?
- How? (also how much?
Most adverbs in Latin end in what two endings?
-ē or -ter
(Obviously, there are a ton of Latin adverbs with different endings)
How are many adverbs formed?
Adjectives (for example: Iūlia est pulchra. Iūlia cantat pulchrē. Julia is beautiful. Julia sings beautifully.)
How do you form an adverb from the first and second declension adjectives?
Simply replace the common ending with a long -ē
(example: from pulchra [beautiful] to pulchrē [beautifully])
How do you form an adverb from a third declension adjective?
Simply replace the common ending with -iter
(example: from celer [quick] to celeriter [quickly])
How do you form an adverb from a third declension adjective that ends in -nt (sapient)?
Simply add to the ending -er
(example: from sapient [wise] to sapienter [wisely])
