Antipsychotic; Haloperidol has pharmacological properties similar to those of phenothiazines; The drug is thought to block dopamine (type 2) receptors in the brain, altering mood or behavior

Indications
A
Acute psychotic episodes; Emergency sedation of a severely agitated or delirious patient

Contraindications
A
CNS depression; coma; hypersensitivity to drug; pregnancy; severe liver or cardiac disease

A
Adult dose- 2-5 mg IM or 1-5 mg IV; pediatric dose 0.5 mg IM

A
Dose-related extrapyramidal reactions; Hypotension; Orthostatic hypotension; N/V; Allergic reaction; Blurred vision
