Catacholamine with alpha and beta effects; increased heart rate, arterial blood pressure, systemic vascular resistance, automaticity, myocardial O2 consumption, and myocardial contractile force; Potent bronchodilator
Indications
V-Fib, pulseless V-Tach, asystole, PEA, systemic allergic reactions, asthma in patients under 50
Contraindications
Use with caution in patients with peripheral vascular insufficiency
Administration
Cardiac arrest- 1 mg 1:10,000 IV or IO; Allergic reaction/anaphylaxis/severe asthma- 0.3mg 1:1000 SQ or IM; 2-3 ml 1:10,000 IV over 30-60 seconds
Pediatric Dose in cardiac arrest- 0.01 mg/kg IV or IO; Allergic reaction/anaphylaxis/severe asthma- 0.01 mg/kg SQ, IM, IO, 1-2 ml 1:10,000 IV over 30-60 seconds
