TREATMENT INITIATION
- ASCVD

- no ASCVD or diabetes who are 40-75 with LDL 70-189 mg/dL AND 10y ASCVD risk of 7.5% or higher
TREATMENT
high or moderate intensity statin regimen in patients with elevated ASCVD risk for primary prevention of CVD
what are the guidelines for colon cancer screening in average and high risk individuals?
average - The USPSTF recommends screening for colorectal cancer using fecal occult blood testing, sigmoidoscopy, or colonoscopy in adults, beginning at age 50 years and continuing until age 75 years. The risks and benefits of these screening methods vary. Grade: A recommendation.
high risk - earlier screening in patients with family hx of colon cancer (HNPCC) or high-risk conditions (ulcerative colitis)
Blacks: higher risks than whites, often found at a later stage, consider screening starting at age 45
why is routine calcium scoring and other vascular studies NOT indicated for asymptomatic individuals?
