thunderclap headache = SAH
How sensitive is a CT for SAH?
Only good if done early in clinical course of SAH otherwise the blood is broken down
Name some breakdown products which can be screened for after a SAH and where this is screened from
Xanthachromia on lumbar puncture
When can you seen xanthochromia after a CSF?
12hrs to 2 weeks after

Meningitis

What does the third nerve supply and what fibres does it have and what do you get in palsy?
parasympathetic fibres
also supplies LPS
hence you get dilation and ptosis if you get third nerve palsy

What is horners and where is it most often caused?
sympathetic plexus in carotid hence damage in this area causes partial ptosis Anhidrosis Pupil miosis
Differentiate between surgical and medical third nerve palsy
Medical - ischaemia
Surgical - pressure on nerve
Pt is asked to look up and can do initially but then eyelid droops and eye becomes disaligned. What is going on?
Fatigueabilty at NMJ; myasthenia gravis
What symptoms do patients with myasthenia gravis caused by?
Double vision sometimes
