- Produces hypnosis rapidly causing CNS depression and anesthesia. No analgesic effect.

- Transient muscle movements
- Apnea
- May cause myoclonus and tremors that can resemble seizure activity

- 0.3 mg/kg IV over 30 - 60 seconds
