• Rapid acting in producing a “dissociative” anesthesia in which the patient’s consciousness is detached from their nervous system
• Potent analgesia
• Bronchodilation with minimal to no respiratory depression

• Pre-anesthetic (induction agent) for rapid sequence induction/intubation (RSI)
• Pre-anesthetic for critical asthma patients needing aggressive bronchodilation and possible intubation
