Investigations used for diagnosis
- Renal biopsy: linear IgG deposits along the basement membrane
- Raised transfer factor secondary to pulmonary haemorrhages
finding of anti-GBM on renal biopsy
linear IgG deposits along basement membrane
Management of anti-GBM
plasma exchange (plasmapheresis)
steroids
cyclophosphamide
Factors which increase the risk of pulmonary haemorrhage in anti-GBM
- smoking
- LRTI
- pulmonary oedema
- inhalation of hydrocarbons
- young males
