Side effects of EPO

A
  • accelerated hypertension
    => risk of encephalopathy and seizures
  • bone aches
  • flu-like symptoms
  • rashes, urticaria
  • raised PV => risk of thrombosis
  • iron deficiency 2nd to increased erythropoiesis

inadequate dose
infection/inflammation
hyperparathyroid bone disease
aluminium toxicity
