- Notoriously famous for Liebfraumilch “Ladys Milk” where a blend of Riesling, Muller T, Silvaner and Kerner of at least 70% with 18g/L of RS
- Silvaner is interestingly majorly planted even more than Franken. It is the largest region in the world

Pfalz: 2 Bereiche
- 2 Bereiche: Mittelhardt-Deutsche Weinstrasse, Sudliche Weinstrasse
- Second largest planting in Germany by acreage, Riesling is king
- Mittelhardt-Deutsche Weinstrasse is the major Bereiche; Haardt Hills – extension of Vosges
- Best villages are Forst, Deidesheim and Ruppertsberg.
- Grosse Lage: Forster Kirchenstuck (Church Piece)
- Planting of SB in the south
Franken: 3 Bereiche
- 3 Bereiche: Mainviereck, Maindreieck, Steigerwald
- Important to note are Würzburg (Maindreieck) and Burgstadt (Mainviereck)
- Wurzberg is home to Stein – Wurzberger Stein (Stone) which produces Riesling and Silvaner. Stein-Harfe and Stein-Berg are GLs. Juliusspital and Burgerspital are the two largest producers. Escherndorfer Lump as GL for Silvaner and Riesling
- Burgstatdt – village for top Pinot – Rudolf Furst
- Franken is famous for its Bocksbeutel modelled after a Roman canteen
Baden: 9 Bereiche
- Tauberfranken, Badische Bergstrasse, Kraichgau, Bodensee, Ortenau, Breisgau, Kaisersthul (Emperor’s Seat) & Tuniberg are South.
- North 4 Bereiche for Muller-Thurgau.
- The 4 southern Bereiche are for Spatburgunder; Kaiserstuhl the most famous with volcanic loess – steepest & warmest slopes – 2 best Einzellage – Achkarrer (Oh Cart!) Schlossberg and Ihringer Winklerberg.
Nahe: 1 Bereiche
- Nahe: 1 Bereiche – Nahetal
- 3 general areas: Upper, Middle and Lower Nahe
- Most famous part – Middle Nahe;
Famous sites – Oberhauser Brücke (Bridge), Schlossbockelsheimer Felsenberg (Loose Rock Slope), Schlossbockelsheimer Krupfergrube (Copper Mine), Niederhauser Hermannshöhle (Hermes’ Cave)
Ahr: 1 Bereiche
- 1 Bereiche: Walporzheim-Ahrtal
- The most famous vineyard site (grosse lage) is Klosterberg
- Upper and Lower Ahr – Lower Ahr warmer with clay, producing more opulent wine; Meyer Nakel and Jean Stodden are leading producer.
- Spatburgunder followed by Fruhburgunder
Wurttemberg
- Famous for Schillerwein. A mandatory field blend of red and white grapes – Rose, 11.5 - 12% abv
- Main grape in the region is Trollinger (schiava) followed by Lemberger, Schwarzriesling and Spatburgunder
Mittelrhein & Hessische Bergstrasse
- Mittelrhein: mostly Rielsing – Bacharacher Hahn – Grosse lage which is a monopole of Toni Jost
- Smallest Anbaugebiete in Germany. Most important village is Heppenheim (Hurry Home) where most of the vineyards are clustered
Sachsen and Saale Unstrut
- Sachsen is moderated by the Elbe River Valley and has a unique grape called Goldriesling (Riesling x Courtiller Musque Precoce)
- Saale-Unstrut is the name of 2 rivers and both Anbaugebiete has Muller Thurgau as main planting.
