participants shouldn’t have info withheld from them or falsely given

participants should always have a debrief after a study has taken place to let them know the full research aim. They may be offered advice within this + given a way to contact the researcher.

How can you overcome the ethical issue of DECEPTION?
debrief can be given at the end of research to fully explain the aims of the research. sometimes consent is gained at this point
how can we overcome the ethical issue of CONSENT?
informed consent can be gained at the start, stating purpose + procedures. a debrief can be given at the end if consent hasn’t been obtained.
how can we overcome the ethical issue of CONFIDENTIALITY?
can anonymise participant data, referring to participants by their participant number rather than their name
how can we overcome the ethical issue of WITHDRAWAL?
participants should give informed consent to participate in research to avoid wanting to withdraw from the study
