Tablets coated to delay disintegration until it reaches the small intestine

- Aspirin
What is omeprazole coated for?
Protect it from acid
What is aspirin coated for?
Protect the stomach from the drug
What is good about IV administration?
Allows a drug that needs to have a rapid effect have a rapid effect e.g. antiarrhythmics
When are sustained release preparations suitable?
- A prolonged pharmacodynamic effect needs to be maintained
