Dopamine Drug Card Flashcards
1
Q
Brand name for dopamine
A
Intropin
2
Q
Action of dopamine
A
- Increases cardiac contractility
- Causes peripheral vasoconstriction
3
Q
Indications for dopamine
A
- Hemodynamically significant hypotension (systolic blood pressure of 70-100 mmHg) not resulting from hypovolemia
- Symptomatic bradycardia refractory to atropine
4
Q
Contraindications for dopamine
A
- Hypovolemic shock in which complete fluid resuscitation has not occurred
- Pheochromocytoma (small vascular tumor of the adrenal medulla, causing irregular secretion of epinephrine and norepinephrine, leading to attacks of raised bp, palpitations, and headache)
5
Q
Precautions of dopamine
A
- presence of ventricular fibrillation
- presence of severe tachyarrhythmias
- ventricular irritability
- beneficial effects lost when dose exceeds 20 mcg/kg/min
6
Q
Side effects of dopamine
A
- Ventricular tachyarrhythmias
- Hypertension
- Palpitations
7
Q
Adult Dosage of dopamine
