- Prolongs action potential and refractory period
- Slows the sinus rate; increases PR and QT intervals
- Decreases peripheral vascular resistance (A and B adrenergic blockade)

Indications
A
Life-threatening cardiac arrhythmia such as ventricular tachycardia and ventricular fibrillation

Contraindication
A
- Severe sinus node dysfunction
- Sinus Bradycardia
- Second and third degree atrioventricular block
- hemodynamically significant bradycardia
