DnT- Hydraulic Systems Flashcards
First rule
If the input and output cylinders are the exact same size (and the system has been filled with hydraulic fluid) the input force = the output force and input piston travelled = output piston travelled
Input = Output
Second rule
Difference in size = difference in MA
If the output cylinder is 2x bigger than the input cylinder then the MA of the output cylinder is 2x more than the input cylinder, which means Output force= 2x more than the Input force also Output force= 2x less distance than the Input force
MA=
Load (output)/ effort (input)
Control mechanisms
One way valve
Hydraulic jack
One way valve
The input pushes fluid causing the output piston to rise and life the object.
The valve prevents fluid from back so that the object stays raised
Hydraulic jack
Consists of two connected cylinders, big and small, where force is applied to the smaller cylinder that creates pressure in both cylinders.
Since the large cylinder has a larger area, the large cylinder produces a greater force
