London Embankment - Tell me more about your involvement in the coordination of high level mechanical and electrical services that you refer to in your summary of experience.

Answer 1

I was tasked with carrying out surveys of the conditions of high-level beams, where I identified that in some locations the depth of the beams were too shallow for Unistrut to be installed, where the fan coil unit was therefore unable to be installed.

Answer 2

This was therefore highlighted as an RFI to the client where they omitted the fan coils in those locations through a Contractors Administrators Instruction.

Manchester Project - Tell me more about the programming for some works to be done out of hours.

Answer 3

Any noisy works such as works that involved drilling or cutting material were sequenced out of hours as the building was multi tenanted. These works included steel work as these works as this caused a high level of noise.

Manchester Project - What was the rationale?

Answer 4

The tenant fit out guide stated that Noisy works and the use of noisy plant or machinery will be restricted. Operations of this sort require the specific prior approval of the Building Manager and will only be permitted to take place outside of normal hours.

I have had experience in the selection of alternative construction solutions where I have raised RFI’s regarding buildability issues discovered in discoverable surveys and also by advising on alternative materials for Value Engineering during the tender stage of the Deloitte project.

Manchester Project - Take me through the process of erection of the structural steelwork that you refer to in your summary of experience.

Answer 6

This steelwork was erected in a section of the ground floor and was connected to the existing steel frame and to two existing steel columns using a braced frame system.
