What are the Two components of the Skull?
This would include The cranial portion and the Facial portion.
What are the general features and functions of the skull?
Forms the cranial cavity, nasal and orbits. Certain skull bones contain cavities called paranasal sinuses lined with mucus membranes.
There are also smaller cavities in the middle temporal bone that house structures that help with hearing and balance.
What are the Main Cranial bones of the Skull?
Frontal, Parietal, Temporal, Occipital, Sphenoid and Ethmoid.
What are all the parts of the Temporal portion of the skull?
Temporal bone, Temporal Squama, Zygomatic Process/ Arch, Mastoid portion, Mastoid process, styloid process.
What is the Ethmoid bone?
This a delicate bone that helps form the anterior part of the cranial floor. The medial wall of the orbits. The superior portion of the nasal septum. most of the superior sidewalls of the nasal cavity.
The ethmoid bone is a major superior supporting structure that forms extensive surface area in the nasal cavity.
What are all the Sutures of the Skull?
Sagital Suture, Coronal suture, Squamous suture, Lambdoid suture and the Suture Bone.
