Q

What is Cleft Palate/lip?

A

This is a condition that is caused by the The Palatine Process of the Maxilla bone fails to Fuse during growth early in the Fetus.

Another form of this condition called Cleft Lip is a split in the upper lip causing speech problems.

These 2 conditions usually form together.

Q

What do the Lacrimal bones consist of and where are they located?

A

Thin and flat and resemble a thumbnail in size and shape. Smallest bones in the face.

Posterior-Lateral to the Nasal bones. Help form the medial wall of the orbit.
Contain the Lacrimal Fossa forms with the Maxilla bone and holds the Lacrimal Sac.

Q

What does the Palatine bone consist of and where is it located in the face?

A

A pair of L-Shpaed bones
They form part of the posterior of the Hard Palate
Part of the lateral wall and floor of the Nasal Cavity
And a small portion of the Orbits.

The Portion of the Hard Palate is formed by the Horizontal plates of the Palatine Bones.

Q

What does the Inferior Nasal Conchae consist of and where is it located?

Q

What does the Vomer consist of and where is it located?

A

A roughly Triangularly shaped bone located in the Inferior Floor of the Nasal Cavity.

It articulate superiorly with Perpendicular plate of the Ethmoid bone and the Sphenoid bone.
Inferiorly with both the Maxilla and Palatine bones along the Midline.
It forms the Inferior portion of the Nasal Septum.

17
Q

What does the Zygomatic bone consist of and where is it located?

A

Help form the Lateral wall of each Orbit.
They Articulate with:
Frontal, Maxilla, Sphenoid and Temporal bones.

Different portions of the Bone are Temporal Process and the Zygomatical Facial foreman.

18
Q

What are the bones that are commonly called “Cheekbones”?

A

The Zygomatic Bones.

19
Q

What are the bones that are commonly called “Cheekbones”?

A

The Zygomatic Bones.

20
Q

What do the Articular Tubercle and the Mandibular Fossa create?

A

Together these portions of the Temporal bone and Zygomatic Arch create The Tempomandiular joint (TMJ).
