Karl Barth - still gave high value to scripture but said literalism could be dangerous as it gives the Bible divine status which can only be given to God - bibliotary.

counter counter para 1 essay 2

A

Bible is the word of god - ‘Then the LORD reached out his hand and touched my mouth and said to me’ I have put my words in your mouth’

Writers of Bible shouldnt be seen as authors , but rather scribes or translators to what God has commanded or told.

We should look for instructions on how to live.

19
Q

counter para 2 essay 2

Difficult because there is contradictions in the Bible.

OLD TESETMANET - War and restorative justice. ‘An eye for an eye’

NEW TESETAMENT - Love of enemies ‘ But i tell you , love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you’

Also could be out of date and doesn’t reflect society today

Things such as Autonomous ethics are better - the only moral guiding principle is love - LOVE is the root of all Jesus’ teaching

20
