Chapter 4.3 Flashcards
What is the greenhouse effect?
The process through which heat is trapped near Earth’s surface by substances known as “greenhouse gases’.
What are greenhouse gases?
Gases that trap heat in the atmosphere.
What is positive feedback?
The output of systems serves to amplify the initial disturbance.
What is negative feedback?
The output system acts to restrict the effects of the initial disturbance.
What can different ice layers show us?
The precipitation, weather patterns, erosion, etc.
What are some human effects of greenhouse gases?
Pollution, burning fossil fuels, and exhaust fumes from vehicles.
Example of negative feedback?
Blood sugar levels from intaking sugar.
Example of positive feedback?
Platelets come when a cut occurs.
