1.1 Intro to Biology Flashcards
What does each of the letters in PMC stand for? What do these terms mean?
P- Program
M- Metabolism
C- Container
Define each of the letters in PMC.
Program: This is genes, reproduction.
Metabolism: It’s how you use and gain energy.
Container: Cell membrane, what separates the inside living things, from the environment.
List the Levels of Organization.
Atom, molecule, organelles, cells, tissue, organs, organ system, organism, population, community, ecosystem, biome, biosphere.
Explain the difference between biome and biosphere.
A biome is all the similar ecosystems, and biosphere is all the ecosystems on Earth.
What is the difference between population and community?
Population is the amount of one species in an area, community is all the species in the area.
What is an organelle?

What does CER stand for?
Claim, Evidence, and Reasoning.
What is a Claim?
A statement that addresses the original question or problem.
Define evidence in a CER.
Pieces of data that support your claim.
