Attitude
A psychological tendency that is expressed by evaluating a particular entity with some degree of favor or disfavor (a person’s evaluation of something)
3 components of Attitude (ABC)
cognitive, affective and behavioral
Job satisfaction
A pleasurable or positive emotional state resulting from the appraisal of one’s job or job experience
How to measure job satisfaction?
Job Descriptive Index (JDI) (includes pay, promotions, supervision, coworkers, and the work itself)
Ways a dissatisfied employee can react (EVLN-approach)
- Exit (search for another job and leave)
- Voice (the employee can discuss this with the supervisor)
- Loyalty (the employee can wait for the situation to improve)
- Neglect (allows the situation to get worse and put in less effort)
Career adaptability
A psychosocial construct that denotes an individua’s resources for coping with current and anticipated tasks, transitions, traumas in their occupational roles.
What does career adaptability consist of? (4 C’s)
Adaptive resources of concern, control, curiosity and confidence
Organizational commitment
A psychological state that describes and employee’s relationship with their organization’s values and goals.
3 components of organizational commitment
- Affective commitment (employee’s emotional attachment to an organization)
- Continuance commitment (the degree to which an employee is aware of the costs of leaving the organization)
- Normative commitment (moral obligation to stay with the organization)
