Small government. Afraid of big government because people wouldn’t have enough say. We have a big gov today bc the population has increased

A

Sit and refer to the constitution. Never a trial but there are lawyers for both sides. (School speech)

Napoleon(French leader) offered Louisiana territory to Jefferson for 15 million . He did this so Napoleon could pay for war debts (fought Britain) it doubled the size of the US

A

President Madison developed it. Henry clay (house speaker in congress) promoted it. Point was the make sure the states were not fighting against each other or competing. Wanted to stay together and get the max amount of money for products

A

Marches where Cherokee people were forcibly removed(Indian removal act) from Georgia to the Indian territory (thousands of Cherokee dying along the way)
They ended up in Oklahoma but later were kicked out bc OK had lots of cattle

A

Belief that the US would inevitably expand westward to the Pacific Ocean and into the Mexican territory. (East of Mississippi River right given by god to move west to pacific)

A

Story of Texas where Steve Austin and Sam Houston were involved. AUstin land prospector told Mexican gov(Santana) to sell land and raise cattle
Enough people-state hood.
Santana vs Austin in war (Austin won)
Stole territory from Mexicans (grande river) Alamo held out mex. Army but all died->contributed to statehood of Texas . Texas university-longhorns Cali-49ers
