Why did British gov pass stamp act ?
Wanted to limit content of what people are writing called censorship (indirect) they didn’t want articles being published talking against the British.

Colonists were massacred by British
British- defend actions said colonists were throwing rocks
Colonists- said they were talking in a peaceful manner protecting themselves PROPAGANDA-built up own side of story
What was the boston tea party?
Dumping 18,000 pounds of tea into boston harbor by colonists protesting the tea acts. Tea was very popular. Sons of liberty were hammered drunk wanted to rebel so dumped tea.
Intolerable acts? (Means u cant stand it)
British gov closed Boston Harbor which prevents imports/exports of goods= no money
Quartering of troops- not pleasant for the colonists, were forced to house them.
What was common sense?
Written by Thomas Paine 50 page pamphlet. British was taking advantage by having taxation without representation and quartering troops. It was common sense to separate colonies from Britain
What were some problems in the Declaration of Independence?
Natural rights being violated
No taxation without representation
People not being able to govern themselves
King being 1/2 a world away
What was the best way to deal with the problems in the DOI ?
Boycott British goods

What was the difference between the constitution and the DOI?
Constitution- laws, set up of the government
