hoover asked national guard to break them up - by gassing them which made hoover look bad
what were the causes of the great depression
crisis in farm sector
unequal distribution of income (rich richer poor poorer, majority poor with little to spend)
availability of credit
high tariffs & war debts
women struggle
men thought women shouldn’t work because they took jobs from men
especially if women were married
what were cultural changes in the 1930s ?
role of women went from old fashioned to getting jobs and changing their appearance & etc (flappers) then to changing back

high tariff that raised tax on imports
so high other countries stopped buying our products in protest
protect foreign competition & did the opposite
inventions that increased communication and growth of suburbs
radio and automobiles
