What does a T indicate?
Indicates landing direction (top of T = landing direction)
What colours must the signalling lamp be able to emit?
Red, blue, green and white

Yellow

Increase of QDM on two of the runways

How is it determined how many piano keys are there on a runway?
Width / 3.7 = number of piano keys
What is a transverse stripe?
Basic marking for a displaced threshold
How is the aiming point?
By two conspicuous white stripes
For rwys of 2400m or more how far down the runway is the aiming point?
400m
Where does touchdown zone markings begin and what is the spacing between each pair?
150m from threshold, 150m spacing
Where are rwy side strip markings used?
On all precision runways and paved runways where there is a lack of distinction between rwy edges and surrounding terrain
What colour are apron safety lines?
Any conspicuous colour that will contrast with that used for stand markings
Describe the centreline of a taxiway?
Continuous yellow line
How are non load bearing surfaces indicated?
Side stripes and a double yellow line
How is a rwy holding position marked?
By a mandatory sign
What colours are mandatory sign?
White letters on red background (on left side of taxiway)
What are the two patterns of rwy holding markings?
Pattern A and pattern B
Describe pattern A
A continuous double yellow line and a broken double yellow closest to the runway (visual holding point)
Which pattern is closer to the runway?
Pattern A
Describe pattern B
A yellow ladder
When is the only time you can cross a pattern A without stopping?
When previously been held at pattern B and then cleared onto the rwy
When shall a rwy holding position be established at a runway intersection?
When the former runway is part of a standard taxi route
How is an intermediate taxiway holding position marked?
Single broken yellow line
How are aircraft stand markings indicated?
Yellow
Where are aircraft stand markings provided?
- a paved apron
- at de-icing and anti-icing facilities
What just all signs be?
Frangible and at a height to be clear of propellers and engine pods
What do signs showing only numbers indicate?
Runways
Where is a no entry sign located?
At the beginning of the area and BOTH sides of the taxiway or area concerned
How is a location sign coloured?
Yellow letters on black background
How is an information sign coloured?
Black letters on yellow background
Where are runway vacated signs located?
Positioned at the end of the ILS/MLS sensitive area on a taxiway where green/yellow centreline lighting isn’t provided
How are taxiways designated?
By a letter or a combination of multiple letters or letter and a number
(e.g. D, DA, D2)
What is the purpose of a marker?
Indicate an obstacle where lights are not provided or does not serve the purpose
What colour are taxiway edge markers?
Blue
What colour are taxiway centreline markers?
Green
Where is the first fixed distance marker located and what is there spacing?
300m from far end threshold with 300m spacing
What colour are fixed distance markers?
White letters on black background
Where must parking stand signs be located?
To be clearly visible from cockpit of an aircraft prior to entering stand
