No more than 1 year (provided the basic license is valid)
What are the two factors the privileges of a license shall be dependant on?
- the validity of the ratings it contains

What is the validity of an EASA license?
5 years
How is the English language proficiency graded?
- level 6 = expert
- level 5 = extended
- level 4 = operational

Level 4 = 4 years
Level 5 = 6 years

- 10 hours of instrument instruction (5 hours of this can be on ground)

Minimum of 1500hrs total flight time:
- 500 hours of multi crew ops
- 500 hours as a SPIC or 250 hours as PIC or 250 hours including at least 70 hours as PIC and the rest as SPIC
- 200 hours x country (of which 100 hours should be SPIC or PIC)
- 75 hours instrument time (no more 30 hours on ground)
- 100 hours at night as PIC or copilot
Why is an IR required?
To demonstrate the ability to operate multi engined aeroplanes solely with reference to instruments with OEI
What are the privileges of an IR?
Fly under IFR with an MDH of 200ft (anything below 200ft requires additional training)
What is the validity of an IR?
1 year
What is the max number of months before your IR expires that you can revalidate it?
3 months
Is the IR still valid if the IR is failed before its expiry date?
No
What must be completed if the IR has been expired by less than 5 years?
Complete an initial skills test with an authorised examiner
What aircraft require type ratings?
- all multi pilot ac
- all jet and turboprop ac
- any type considered necessary by the authority
What aircraft require class ratings?
Single pilot operated (including touring gliders)
How long is a class or type rating valid for?
1 year (2 years for a single plot, single engined class rating is valid)
When are medical certificates valid from?
From the initial general medical examination
When are class and type ratings valid from?
From the date of issue
What is the purpose of a nightbrating?
To allow PPL holders to fly in VFR conditions at night
What is an FI?
A flight instructor certificate
What is the minimum age and validity period of an FI?
Minimum age = 18
Validity period = 3 years
What is the validity period of a FE?

What medical certificates are required for each license?
Class 2 = PPL

- aware of any incidence

When suffering an illness for a longer than a period of time yiu just contact an ame, what is this period?
Period of longer than 21 days
Who issues a class. 1 and class 2 respectively?
1 = AEMC 2 = AME
What is the validity of a class 1?
12 months
When is a class 1 validity reduced to 6 months?
- for holders who have reached the age of 40 engaged in CAT single pilot ops carrying pax
- or when reaching the age of 60
What is the validity period of a class 2?
- 60 months up to the age of 40
- 24 months between 40-50
- 12 months after the age of 50
How long before a medical certificate may you revalidate?
45 days prior to expiry
What happens if a medical has been expired for more than 2 years?
The AEMC or AME must assess your aero medical records
What happens if your medical certificate has been expired for 5 years?
You must complete an initial assessment once again
