How do authoritative parents and authoritarian parents effects children’s self esteem
Authoritative = higher self esteem
Authoritarian = low self esteem
How do children 6-7 years describe their peers compared to hoe 7-10 year old children describe their peers
6-7 = describe external characteristics (he goes to my school, has brown hair, has a grey sweater, etc)
7-10 = internal characteristics (he smells and is nasty, not funny, always fighting, etc)
What is the difference between Moral Realism and Moral Relativism (Piaget)
Realism = rules can’t be changed, rule violations result in punishment
Relitivism = people can agree to change rules and, punishments only when the person is misbehaving
Are working parents related to delinquency?? if not then what
No they are not.
Income, parental education, and quality of interaction effects delinquency
Why are peer relationships important in learning new things
they provide a different perspective from parents
What are three reasons to why peer relationships are good
- more information about the world/people
- emotional support and control
- practice of relationship and communication skills
What are the 2 types of peer rejection
withdrawn-rejected = perceived to be different in some way
Aggressive-rejected = aggressive an uncooperative behaviours
