Why Do Clients Need It?

What is that something ?

And why?

A

Because they’re receiving large amounts of something (medications, IV Fluid, long term antibiotic therapy or chemotherapy)

The small veins are not going to be able to tolerate that amount of fluids

A
  1. Hand washing
  2. skin asepsis
    ( use chlorhexidine gluconate solution for 30sec around the inserting site of the central line)
  3. Assessing hub and clean with alcohol
  4. Changing the dressing

A

Ends in the vena cava want to flush this 10ml of fluid before and after

Sometimes flush with heparin

What do you need to have for both lines ?

How do you verify both ?

What might be use to prevent blood clots?

A

The line is implanted underneath the skin. To access it u have puncture the skin every time u want to get to the Port-a-cath!

Mask over face for both lines

Both are verified with a chest xray!

Herapin maybe use to prevent bloodclots
