The Brain
Regulates and guides the all other parts of the nervous system. Including regulating vital body functions, e.g. breathing, heart rate, digestion. It receives information from the outside world via the senses and co-ordinating appropriate responses. It is responsible for higher order functions such as planning, thinking and learning. It is the origin of emotions, personality, humour and many other amazing functions.
Spinal Cord
A cable-like column of nerve fibres that extend from the base of the brain to the lower back and is encased by a series of bones called vertebrae. Passes sensory information on from the PNS to the brain. Passes motor information from the brain to the PNS.
