High blood pressure - narrowing of arteries

Doesn’t normally have symptoms - lead to stroke or heart attack

Sphygomomanometer - inflatable cuff - measures systole and diastole
How is hypertension treated?
ACE inhibitors - relax blood vessels Lose weight Exercise Eat healthy Quit smoking
What are benefits of a sphygomomanometer?
Can be used at home
Easy to use
No pain
What are cons of a sphygomomanometer?
May forget/ not take readings as not done by GP
May not be able to access GP for appointments
What are benefits of ACE inhibitors?
Easy treatment
Relax blood vessels
What are cons of ACE inhibitors?
Can forget to take them
Side effects can cause dizziness
What impacts on lifestyle does hypertension have?
Need to take meds regularly
Risk of stroke, heart attack etc
Need to make changes to lifestyle
Struggle to notice symptoms

Regular check ups
