cardiorespiratory endurance - health related Flashcards
describe what cardiorespiratory endurance is
Referred to as the ability of the body to work continuously for extended periods of time.
example of cardiorespiratory endurance
- footballer
- cyclist
- long-distance runner
What is VO2 max
VO2 is the largest amount of oxygen the body can process during strenuous exercise. The larger the VO2 max the longer duration of exercise.
oxygen deffiececnt
Amount of oxygen your body can absorb above normal resting oxygen levels.
describe oxygen deficit in terms of a graph showing a high level of activity
As more intense exercise occurs this means the amount of oxygen consumed is far more than the oxygen coming in that vo2 has been reached. This results in longer periods.
describe oxygen deficit in terms of a graph showing a level of light to moderate activity
Light or moderate activity will result in the body’s VO2 max not being reached, resulting in a shorter recovery period.
what is oxygen debt
Is the amount of oxygen consumed during the recovery period to replenish -
- ATP-CP stores
- remove lactic acid
- replace depleted oxygen stores
