Q

What is the mechanism for Endocytosis?

A

-Inward folding (invagination) of membrane gets larger & then pinches off completely= results in membrane-bound vesicle in cytoplasm

Q

What is an example of Receptor-Mediated Endocytosis?

A
  • When LDL (low-density lipoprotein), which carries cholesterol & other lipids in the blood is recognized by LDL receptor which removes it from the blood=keeps blood lipids low
  • If LDL isn’t taken out they can accumulate in arteries blocking blood flow= heart attacks
