- air passes through the larynx, trachea and into the posterior air sacs
- air moves from the posterior sacs to the lungs via the ventrobronchi and dorsobronchi
- air moves from lungs into anterior/cranial air sacs
- air moves from the anterior/cranial air sacs, through the syrinx, trachea and out of the nares
